Jakarta, July 17, 2024 - In an effort to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the national logistics ecosystem, the Indonesian government has issued a Presidential Instruction on the Arrangement of the National Logistics Ecosystem (NLE). In a statement from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ali Murtopo Simbolon, Deputy for Commerce and Industry Coordination, emphasized the importance of the good relationship between Indonesia and Singapore in the development of human resources and logistics. This discussion took place on Tuesday (17/7/2024) at the event “The Workshop of Envisioning ASEAN Logistics Connectivity: Indonesia” at Graha Sawala, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Jakarta.

"The closeness between Indonesia and Singapore is very important. We hope to initiate a collaboration that will strengthen Indonesia's logistics through digitalization, considering Singapore has successfully implemented digital technology in logistics. We want to develop end-to-end digitalization in Indonesia's logistics system and improve infrastructure such as dry ports," said Ali Murtopo during the opening of the event.

The government has reduced the national dwelling time to 2.52 days in August 2023, exceeding the target of 2.9 days, which improves the efficiency of shipping and inventory management in the logistics system. End-to-end digitalization initiatives enable logistics to adopt digital technology, integrate supply chain management systems, increase transparency, and reduce operational costs.

Single submission services reduce bureaucracy, expedite administrative processes, and increase operational efficiency. Collaboration with Singapore opens up opportunities for logistics to learn from best practices, enhance human resource capacity, and adopt cutting-edge technology. The development of infrastructure such as dry ports increases storage and distribution capacity and optimizes shipping routes.
